The AI News section of this site runs on this system. It is open source on GitHub, so you can deploy your own.
What it does
Every item goes through the same pipeline:
- Collect: RSS, JSON, Reddit and X sources on a schedule, with attribution kept
- Extract: safely pull out the article body
- Translate: foreign-language items are translated to Chinese first; incomplete translations are never published
- Score: an explainable quality score and a one-line reason, across impact, novelty, usefulness and more
- Verify: when several independent sources report the same story, they merge into one event that counts as cross-confirmation
- Route: high scorers publish automatically, the rest go to a review queue
- Publish: to the site, plus signed webhooks
Who it is for
- Readers: picks, trending events, event timelines, daily briefs and RSS
- Operators: an admin console for sources, review, and per-run logs with retries
- Developers: a public read-only API with OpenAPI docs
Stack
Fastify, Node.js 22 and SQLite on the back end; React for the site and admin console; deployed with Docker.
